Dear Members and Friends:

Our 2016-17 Navy League Season is drawing to a close.

At last month’s Dinner Meeting, we honored the U. S. Coast Guard with the leadership Station Ft. Pierce and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 56 in attendance. It was very special to have the 10th Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard, Skip Bowen, as our speaker accompanied by his wife, Janet. Skip did a great job and we are proud to share that he has transferred his NLUS membership to our Treasure Coast Council. Thank you, Skip!

Our final 2016-17 Speaker Series Dinner Meeting will be on Thursday, May18th at Pointe West Country Club, starting at 5:30 P.M. This is our ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Meeting. The speaker will be CDR Randy Laws, USN (ret.), Naval Aviator and a Distinguished National Leader in the Navy Junior ROTC Program who will share the success story of the NJROTC and of Navy League support for Youth Leadership Programs, one of the three main parts of our National Navy League Mission. The Sea Cadet Unit from Melbourne that is supported by our Council will provide the Color Guard at the Opening of our meeting.

Last, but not least, I want to thank the volunteers who do so much to help our Council grow and accomplish our Mission. As a result, your Treasure Coast Council received National Navy League recognition last year for its accomplishments. We are also grateful for the support of our members, sponsors and friends.

On the horizon…please mark your calendar for our Council’s 5th Annual Thank You Dinner for volunteers at the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum on June 6th .

John F. Beckert, Council President
